Soft cover. Condizione: New. This work provides a new perspective to the birth of Gothic architecture, by demonstrating the process through which Gothic interior walls acquired high linearity based on the analysis of linear element profiles of the interior walls from around 200 churches. The research confirms the leading roles o…f Ile-de-France and rib vaults in generating the Gothic style of architecture, reversing widely accepted theories. It also draws conclusive interpretations of the introduction of columns and sexpartite vaults in the Early Gothic period. Key words gothic architecture, origin, linearity, interior wall, shaft, profile, round pier, compound pier, sexpartite vault.

Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. Full set of the legendary Eizo no Gendai series of photography books from 1971 - 1972. Each of these books includes original dust cover, obi (bellyband), and plastic outer cover. Additionally, eight of the ten have been signed/inscribed by the photogr…apher. (The inscribed works are those by Ikko Narahara, Yoshihiro Tatsuki, Shomei Tomatsu, Haruo Tomiyama, Akira Sato, Yasuhiro Ishimoto, Noriaki Yokosuka, and Daido Moriyama.) The work by the late Ikko Narahara is inscribed to famous photography editor Akira Hasegawa; Narahara has corrected the English language version of his profile in his own hand in this copy. The copy by Ishimoto was signed by him in the PGI Gallery in 2007; the copy by Tomatsu was signed by him in Okinawa, when he joined Miyako Ishiuchi for a talk at the Okinawa museum in 2010. Finding individual copies of these works in complete condition has become difficult; finding signed copies all the more so. This set, including eight books uniquely personalized by the respective photographers, would certainly be the cornerstone of any important photography collection. Signed by Author(s).
