First edition, 4to., pp.125,(ii), quarter beige cloth, lettered in black, with black paper-covered boards, b/w plates accompany the poems throughout; inscribed to half title: 'Whoever buys this book helps The Hebden Bridge Festival Theatre Company / Ted Hughes, 5 January 1987". Owing to a misprint in this volume, eliding the final ten lines of 'Grouse Butts', the additional lines have been supplied in manuscript by Ted Hughes. The book was then auctioned to raise funds for the Hebden Bridge Festival Theatre Company. A fresh and near-fine copy, with slight foxing to top edges, in a near-fine unclipped dust-jacket.

What makes this copy unique is - presumably - because Ted Hughes mistakenly signed it on the copyright page, where it is numbered 29, and ALSO signed and numbered on the front endpaper, but with another two numbers, 47 and 88. A slightly mysterious and fascinating error. The book has twelve superb poems, beautifully printed and bound in japon backed patterned red boards, with titles to upper board and spine in black; a vey fine copy and one of Hughes nicest collections.
