Spratling was involved in the arts scene in New Orleans in the 1920s and later moved to Mexico to become a silversmith, and established a base in Taxco. He is frequently referred to as founder of the 20th century Mexican silver jewelry industry. Softcover paper portfolio with front cover label, four pages of text with map, and ten separate pages with Spratling's drawings engraved by the Grelle-Egerton Engraving Company. Housed in a blue cloth portfolio with front cover label and marbled interior. The book is in poor condition with covers chipped, soiled and separated from one another, text very good, sketch pages with light intermittent foxing, edgewear and some waviness to the lower edges of several toward the end. The portfolio has old dampstains to the outside, none within, no damp odor. . Signed by the Artist. First Edition. Soft Cover. Poor. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
