The sale generated $15025 ($275,000 in 2025 dollars); the top rug, an 11.5 x 11.5 foot Tabriz went for $1025 ($19,000 in 2025 dollars) to the Mayorcas Brothers; then $450 ($8200 in 2025 dollars)for a 17 x 10 foot 9 inch Gorevan to Costikyan and Company. $15. Quill Jones was a famous rug collector, born in 1875, with multiple trips in Asia looking for rugs, and complaining that it hadn't been worthwhile going there since 1918 (according to an interviw in the Central New Jersey Home News): "Persia has been culled for rugs with a fine toothed comb. All the old and really fine rugs have been tracked down, bought, and exported." This is the original, not the modern reprint. Book.
