Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. Not books but a pair of 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm stereo vinyl LPs, Original Sound OSR-LPS 8850 (very-good-plus vinyl in a very-good-plus cardboard jacket, originally released 1959 but this pressing 1971) . . . AND OSR-LPS 8852 (near mint in a very good mostly black jacket which is starting to show some ring wear, originally 1960 but this pressing 1971.) "Original monophonic recordings have been electronically enhanced for today's stereo phonographs . . . plays mono or stereo." Original Sound address listed to DISC LABELS as 7120 Sunset Blvd., Hollywood 46, Calif., that being a pre-zip code (pre-1962) address. HOWEVER, photo to jacket verso of Vol. 2 showing record company president Art Laboe with Big Joe Turner dated July 31, 1971, and record JACKETS carry a small date code "9/71" while showing post-1962 zip codes, so while these discs are generally dated 1959 and 1960, we believe these are 1971 re-releases. Vol. 1 includes the Five Satins' "In the Still of the Night," The Penguins' "Earth Angel," The Teenqueens' "Eddie My Love," The Mello Kings' "Tonite, Tonite," Shirley & Lee's "Let the Good Times Roll," The Jaguars' rendition of Jerome Kern's "The Way You Look Tonight," Etta James' "Dance With Me, Henry," etc. Vol. II features The Clovers' "Devil or Angel," The Velvetones "Glory of Love," Joe Turner's "Shake, Rattle & Roll," The Turbans' "When You Dance," Faye Adams' "Shake A Hand," The Nutmegs' "Story Untold," etc. Price is for the pair of vinyl LPs, now reduced from $12.50.

Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. Not books but a pair of 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm Stereo vinyl discs. Atlantic SD 8162 is the main item here (we estimate its actual value at $45) with a blue-and-green label, the vinyl near-mint in a very-good-plus cardboard jacket, "Electronically Enhanced for Stereo." Jacket notes by Jonny Meadow of "Atlantic Records Vault Research," who recalls Jesse Stone's "Money Honey" (Atlantic 1006) was their first release after Clyde McPhatter left Billy Ward & The Dominoes to form The Drifters. Album features Ruth Brown's "Mama, He Treats Your Daughter Mean," The Drifters' "Money Honey," The Chords' "Sh-Boom," Joe Turner's 1954 version of Charles Calhoun's "Shake, Rattle & Roll," La Vern Baker's "Tweedle Dee," Ray Charles' "I've Got a Woman," etc. That disc alone now reduced from $45. OUR SECOND OFFERING, "History of Rhythm & Blues volume 4 / The Big Beat 1958-1960," also bearing a green-and-blue Atlantic label, stereo SD 8164, very-good-plus vinyl (one light scratch to Side One which cannot be felt) in a very-good-plus jacket, a $5 value, includes The Coasters' "Yakety Yak," "Charlie Brown" and "Poison Ivy" (all Leiber-Stoller); The Drifters' "There Goes My Baby," "Dance With Me," "This Magic Moment," and "Save The Last Dance for Me" (the last two by Doc Pomus & Mort Shuman) as well as Ben E. King's "Spanish Harlem" (Spector-Leiber) etc. Price is for the pair of LPs, second and fourth in the series, the pair now reduced from $50.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. Not a book but a 12-inch, 33-1/3 rpm (electronically enhanced) stereo vinyl LP record, Atlantic SD 8161, very-good-plus vinyl in a very-good-plus jacket which has been opened but still wears its original shrink-wrap. Jacket states 1968 and these are indeed the proper green-over-blue Atlantic labels for a release between 1966 and 1968. (Original inner sleeve has been repaired, much tattered to open end, lists The Young Rascals' first album -- love the collared shirts -- as well as Coltrane's "My Favorite Things," Wilson Pickett's "In The Midnight Hour," etc.) This LP includes "Stick" McGhee & His Buddies singing "Drinkin' Wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee" (since the original four-syllable term of address was judged likely to discourage airplay); Joe Turner offering "Chains of Love" (credited to Nugetre & Van Walls -- not the "Chains" written by Goffin & King for The Cookies and then covered by George & The Beatles in '63); Ruth Brown singing "5-10-15 Hours," The Clovers' "One Mint Julep" (both of those credited to Rudolph Toombs), The Clovers' "Don't You Know I Love You" (also credited to Nugetre -- an obvious anagram for label co-founder Ahmet Ertegun, 1923-2006), etc. This disc originally sold at Music Town in Downey, California -- their small gold gilt label remains. Reduced from $22.
