Im Mittelpunkt… des Buches steht die Frage, welche Auswirkungen die Umbrüche im Wirtschafts- und Arbeitssystem auf die Frauenbeschäftigung haben. Anhand von Arbeitsmarktstatistiken und -prognosen wird gezeigt, Daß die Beschäftigungsgewinne von Frauen eher statistische als tatsächliche Erfolge sind. Verschiedene Verdrängungsprozesse, wie beispielsweise Beschäftigungsverhältnisse unterhalb des Normalarbeitsverhältnisses werden kritisch analysiert. In einer qualitativen Befragung wird zum einen der Dauer atypischer Beschäftigung, zum anderen dem Zusammenhang zwischen beruflicher Situation und weiblichem Selbstkonzept nachgegangen.
