Ex libris inciso applicato al contropiatto anteriore di Rene-Amedee Choppin . Esemplare in ottimo stato di conservazione. Prima edizione della prima opera. Padre Hervier, dopo i vari successi ottenuti dalla magnetizzazione, divenne presto uno dei più calorosi sostenitori della nuova dottrina. La sua lettera che Antoine Court de Gebelin aveva stampato , è stata letta dall' Autore con grande entusiasmo e spirito in una delle sedute del Museo di Parigi. Padre Hervier riporta nei suoi appunti una magnetizzazione effettuata su un albero, che avrebbe avuto come risultato di accelerarne lo sviluppo. Prima edizione della seconda opera di Christophe Félix Louis Ventre de La Touloubre detto Galart de Montjoie. Nella prima parte di questa difesa di Mesmer e del magnetismo animale, Galart de Montjoie cerca di trovare punti di riavvicinamento tra Mesmer e l'astronomo Bailly. Quindi confronta le idee di Mesmer con quelle di Cartesio e Newton, schierandosi con Newton contro Bailly nella sua visione della materia e del movimento. L autore spiega la visione di Mesmer del flusso e riflusso del fluido magnetico e tenta di mostrare come sia in accordo con le migliori visioni contemporanee della fisica. Nella seconda parte, Galart de Montjoie riprende il rapporto della commissione Franklin, dedicando ampio spazio alla questione del posto dell'immaginazione nell'azione del magnetismo animale. Egli esamina il posto della volontà nell'azione del fluido magnetico, affermando che è principalmente attraverso la volontà che il fluido è diretto e che è coinvolto nella magnetizzazione a distanza. Prima edizione della terza opera, Uno dei primi trattati sulla rianimazione. Jacques-Joseph de Gardanne (1726-1786), medico di La Ciotat, reggente della Facoltà di Medicina di Parigi nel 1766, era uno specialista in malattie veneree: in tale veste diresse il reparto venereo dell'ospedale della carità. Le due opere che seguono Rapport des Commissairesde l Examen du Magnetisme Animal costituiscono due dei numerosi rapporti redatti dalle commissioni costituite per ordine del re; la loro missione era esaminare la pratica e gli effetti del magnetismo animale. Le loro opinioni erano spesso sfavorevoli. Condannarono categoricamente il magnetismo animale: "i processi del Magnetismo in generale potrebbero, alla lunga, diventare disastrosi e diventare la fonte dei più grandi mali".
