Signed by all three authors, inscribed "To Dora" for her "magnificent efforts in arranging our tour." Octavo, blue cloth & boards (hardcover), gilt letters, 205 pp. Fine (As New) in a Fine (As New) dust jacket. From dust jacket: Through five decades, including World War II, Korea & Vietnam, Zeke Cormier, Wally Schirra and Phil Wood have served naval aviation and their nation whether on active duty or in retirement. Their overlapping careers involved them in U-Boat hunting, aerial combat, the Blue Angels, experimental flight, weapons testing, space flight and command at sea. This book describes their riveting experiences and tremendous contributions. Between the three they have flown over 14,000 hours, including over 500 combat missions, and made over 1800 carrier landings. Written with the help of Barrett Tillman, their adventures are related with candor, a great deal of humor, and bear a message, born of collective experience, for today's naval leadership. Zeke Cormier began his Navy career early in WWII flying Grumman Avengers off a "Jeep" carrier hunting U-Boats in the Atlantic. He finished the war in the Pacific flying Grumman Hellcats and becoming an ace with eight victories and two probables. An early member of the Blue Angels, Zeke proceeded through squadron and CAG commands and retired as Exec of the carrier Wasp. His post service career was with McDonnell Douglas, and later with the San Diego Aerospace Museum. Wally Schirra graduated from the Naval Academy just in time to hear the last shots of the Pacific war as a surface officer. He later won his Navy wings but saw his combat service as an exchange officer with a USAF unit in Korea. Wally scored two kills over MiG-15s. After some period in the flight test business he entered the Space program as one of America's seven original astronauts where he served on three space flights. Post service he became involved in business with several Fortune 500 companies. Phil Wood was a Navy enlisted man who saw service at sea during the Korean war. After winning his commission and Navy wings, he served in several fighter and attack squadrons. During the Vietnam he flew three combat tours and was credited with the downing of a MiG-17. He advanced to command a squadron and a carrier air group then assumed an Exec role aboard ship in preparation for his last Navy assignment as CO of carrier Kitty Hawk. Since retirement he has been involved with Northrop Aircraft. Aviation, Military History, United States Navy, U. S. Navy, Naval bnsli.

Edited by Lesley A. Martin. Designed by Murray & Sorrell FUEL. New (opened only for signing). Mint copy. From the publisher: "Stephen Shore's Uncommon Places is indisputably a canonic body of workâ "a touchstone for those interested in photography and the American landscape. Remarkably, despite having been the focus of numerous shows and books, including the eponymous 1982 Aperture classic (expanded and reissued several times), this series of photographs has yet to be explored in its entirety. Over the past five years, Shore has scanned hundreds of negatives shot between 1973 and 1981. In this volume, Aperture has invited an international group of fifteen photographers, curators, authors, and cultural figures to select ten images apiece from this rarely seen cache of images. Each portfolio offers an idiosyncratic and revealing commentary on why this body of work continues to astound; how it has impacted the work of new generations of photography and the medium at large; and proposes new insight on Shore's unique vision of America as transmuted in this totemic series." Condizione: Very Good+. (ed.) Richard Bernas, Susan Bonvin, David Coxhead, Andrew Eden, Susan Hiller, Anthony Howell, Anthony McCall, Richard Quarrell, Bill Shepherd, Amikan Toren and John Welch. Wallpaper no. 1-7: complete set in six volumes (No.2 signed), London and New York, 1974-1977. Complete set of Wallpaper, a magazine of art and writing. As the title suggests, each issue is assembled in wraps made of different coloured and patterned wallpaper: no two copies of any issue are likely to be identical. Issue 1 printed in an edition of 200 copies, of which 150 are estimated to have been made. Issues 2-4 printed in an edition of 260 copies, of which 210 are estimated to have been made. No edition information available for issues 5/6 and 7. Wallpaper s eleven contributing editors comprised a mix of artists, poets and musicians. Other contributors included Anthony Barnett, Paul Buck, Allen Fisher, David Medalla, Annabel Nicolson, Carolee Schneemann (in issue 5/6), Fiona Templeton and Lynne Tillman. Every two issues from 1-4, each editor was allocated an equal space (as such, work by each editor featured twice between issues 1-4). For issue 5/6 (a double issue), each editor invited one or two guests to share his or her space equally. For issue 7, each editor invited a guest to fill his or her space. Susan Hiller s contribution to issue 2, Transformation , makes each copy of this particular issue unique. Transformation used material from Hiller s artwork Transformer , one of the last exhibitions at Gallery House in June 1973. Transformer is described by the scholar Lucy Reynolds as a wall work constructed of sheets of tissue paper that, with its craft materials, haptic quality and glittering ephemeral surface, anticipated an emerging feminist-influenced art in Britain [London Art Worlds, 2018: 148]. 260 A4 fragments were cut from the 52 sections of Transformer : one segment for each example of Wallpaper no. 2. In Hiller s own words, Transformation should be understood to be located in from one to 260 sites simultaneously. Issue 2 is hand numbered 47/50 and signed by all 5 authors on stickers on the penultimate page. Condition: Issue 5/6 has some bruising and soiling to the spine of the wrapper with closed tears and paper loss in two places. Internally Very good+. Other issues are mostly near fine or Fine, otherwise some rubbing to spines. Overall Very Good+.
