A history of the firm of Lancashire paper and film manufacturers Bridge Hall Mills. The Mills were once one of the largest paper mills in the world and a powerhouse of the Industrial Revolution, but in 1915 it was also the site of one of the worst industrial accidents of the early 20th century. On the morning of February 16th 1915, between 20 and 30 men were putting the finishing touches to a 250ft wide, four storey extension when disaster struck. Shortly before noon, without any warning the concrete roof collapsed and came crashing down on to the men below. Nine men were killed and many seriously injured. The company is still in business today.
