KRAUS (Jicín 1874 - Vienna 1936), ebreo ma libero pensatore, avverso al sionista Theodor Herzl, fu stupidamente accusato di odiare il suo stesso popolo; considerato uno dei principali autori satirici di lingua tedesca del XX secolo, raro esempio, tra gli intelletuali coevi, di fiero antimilitarismo contro le ipocrisie della Vienna asburgica e la Grande Guerra, e contro Hitler di cui, prima di morire (nel 1936) previde la rovinosa caduta. TIMMS, inglese, fondatore nel 1994 del Centre for German-Jewish Studies, acuto studioso di Kraus (che definì satirico apocalittico) e di Freud. Esemplare ancora incellofanato.
