Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Author: Toc H Title: The Toc H Journal Subtitle: Illustrated with identified plates of Tubby Clayton (Poperinghe 1935; India 1934; Canada 1926 with Lord Byng), inscribed North Nottingham Branch copy Publication Details: London: Toc H, 1935 Condition: Good Description: A well-preserved 1935 issue of The Toc H Journal, notable for its multiple identified photographic plates of Tubby Clayton across Poperinghe, India, and Canada, together with clear North Nottingham Branch provenance. This copy bears a handwritten ink inscription reading "North Nottingham Branch", providing clear evidence of its original use within a specific Toc H branch and adding a distinct element of regional provenance. The journal is illustrated with a number of photographic plates of particular interest, including Plate XXI, a portrait of Tubby Clayton in the Old House, Poperinghe (1935), photographed by E.T. Williamson; Plate V (p.57), a further portrait of Clayton taken at Belgaum, India, at Christmas 1934; and Plate XXIII (p.317), depicting Lord Byng together with Clayton and Pat Leonard in Canada on 21 March 1926. These clearly identified and dated images provide a valuable visual record of Clayton's activities across the Toc H movement and its wider international context. Produced for members and supporters, the journal documents the ongoing work of Toc H following its origins in Talbot House during the First World War, including reports, reflections, and organisational updates. As such, it represents valuable primary-source material relating to the movement's expansion and influence across Britain and beyond during the interwar period. The volume remains in good condition, with sound structure and clean, readable contents. A strong and increasingly collectible example of Toc H printed material, combining photographic interest, identifiable historical figures and clear provenance.…

Philip ("Tubby" Clayton) Title: Liber Vitae: Being the Roll of Honour of Talbot House, Poperinghe and Ypres, & Others of the Elder Brethren Commemorated in Toc H — with signed letter referencing limited edition, photograph, and ephemera Publication Details: London: All Hallows Porch Room, Byward Street, E.C., 1928 Condition: Very Good (book); Ephemera Near Fine / Near New Description: A rare and highly coherent Toc H archival grouping centred on the 1928 Liber Vitae, accompanied by original contemporary material directly connected to the Toc H Christmas Service of that year. This exceptional association copy comprises: A near fine / near new Christmas Service Sheet (1928), including "Family Evening Prayer for Toc H," remarkably well preserved An original typed and signed letter dated 19 December 1928 from Rev. Philip "Tubby" Clayton, founder of Toc H, on official headed paper of All Hallows Porch Room, Byward Street, London E.C.3, bearing the "National Scheme for Disabled Men" emblem, addressed to Mrs Macmillan A contemporary black and white photograph clearly depicting Tubby Clayton (face visible) in the company of fellow Toc H members, very likely taken at the 1928 Christmas Service, preserved in near new condition Of particular significance, in the signed letter Tubby Clayton explicitly refers to the accompanying volume as a limited edition, providing rare contemporary confirmation of its status and enhancing both its bibliographic and historical importance as a documented primary source. The coherence of the group is especially notable: the letter (December 1928), service sheet, and photograph all relate to the same event and moment in the life of Toc H, forming a tightly integrated and historically resonant ensemble. The book itself is in very good condition, with firm binding and clean contents. The accompanying ephemera are exceptionally well preserved, with the signature bold and the photograph of excellent clarity. Such complete and internally coherent Toc H groupings—combining signed correspondence, photographic material, and event-specific ephemera—are rarely encountered outside institutional or archival holdings. Comparable complete groupings of this nature are seldom offered on the market. A museum-quality archival ensemble of considerable interest to collectors and institutions concerned with Toc H, First World War remembrance, and interwar Anglican religious history.…
