El libro primero contiene las Ordenanzas de la Real Audiencia de Lima y demás tribunales, el libro segundo anota las Ordenanzas para los Indios de todos los pueblos de Perú, el libro tercero está dedicado a las Ordenanzas de Minas e Ingenios. Estas primeras ordenanzas de Perú fueron mandadas redactar por el virrey Melchor de Navarra y Rocafull y fueron recopiladas por Ballesteros. Las ordenanzas de minería estuvieron vigentes para Perú y Chile por más de un siglo, hasta la publicación de las ordenanzas de Nueva España en 1785 que se implantaron en todo el continente. Muy raro, sólo encontramos un ejemplar en España, en la Biblioteca del Monasterio de Poblet en Tarragona. OCLC registra sólo 7 ejemplares conocidos. Medina anota una anteportada, sin embargo todos los ejemplares consultados describen 20 hojas de preliminares como el nuestro.
