Redactó la obra a lo largo de 15 años, entre 1228 y 1244, constando de 19 libros de acuerdo con el plan siguiente: el hombre (I-III), los animales (IV-IX), las plantas (X-XII), las aguas (XIII), piedras y metales (XIV-XV), astronomía, astrología y meteorología (XVI-XVIII), elementos (XIX). Contiene también el códice un tratadito de cetrería, probablemente de los siglos XII-XIII. Asímismo un Tacuinum sanitatis incompleto. El manuscrito ha sido atribuído en otras épocas a San Alberto Magno. 46x33 cm. Encuadernación plena piel de época gofrada con ruedas para el facsímil y holandesa piel estudio.
