La seconda parte, certamente la più interessante, comprende lo studio di uno più primi tentativi di navigazione sott'acqua attraverso un sottomarino, da lui inventato e sperimentato a Sarzana come dichiara nella prefazione, e riprodotto qui in una delle tavole.
