With Best wishes Clyde W Tombaugh 28 December 1983." Original publisher's smooth dark blue boards lettered silver gilt on spine and on front cover. Illustrated account of the discovery of Pluto by Tombaugh, described in the book as 'the only man alive, and the only man in the twentieth century, to have discovered a planet'. Pluto has since been reclassified by the International Astronomical Union as a dwarf-planet. Moore and Tombaugh are the authors of different chapters in the book. Tombaugh discovered the Pluto in 1930 when he was a 23-year-old at only a high school diploma, he died in 1997 age 90. Very good indeed in very good indeed dust jacket. No other inscriptions, not price-clipped. Signedes.

"To J.P.L. with my compliments Clyde W. Tombaugh, 27 Aug. 1992". Navy blue boards with silver lettering on spine and cover includes numerous b/w illustrations, Glossary and Index, 221 pages. The exception to the condition is stains on the text blocks. The DJ is in Good + condition with the exception of stains on the lower inside bottom wrappers, a open tear on the rear and general shelf wear to extremities, protected now in brodart.
