Includes 15 essays not published in 'The Taste for Things That Are True', incuding "Some Reflections on What is Specific to Gurdjieff's Teaching"; 228 pages. It would be fitting to say of Henri Tracol, a pupil of G. I. Gurdjieff, that all through his life he called many sides of himself into action toward the "harmonious development" advocated by Gurdjieff. For this reason the talks and interviews he gave over the years are of the greatest help to other seekers of truth, or, as he would say, "aspiring seekers of truth."Whether writing about Gurdjieff or about ancient world traditions, Tracol skillfully draws on a vast knowledge of them as well as of his own and many other cultures. He brings archetypes and heroes close enough for us to begin to see more clearly what they might represent for us. He tells us that help is at hand from sacred sources and understandings, and that we can penetrate closer to the source of the common essence of traditional wisdom. This new, revised, and extended edition of Tracol's book is particularly welcome because it contains pieces translated for the first time into English, and also hitherto unpublished material based on talks from his many visits to the United States, as well as bringing together his remarkable contributions to Parabola magazine. Paperback in very good condition.

Libro.

Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Fine. None (illustratore). First edition. The first edition of this very scarce esoteric work by Henri Tracol, regarding the role of man, heaven and earth, and how they are represented in various scriptures. Tracol was a pupil of mystic, philosopher and spiritual teacher George Ivanovich Gurdjieff, who held a philosophy that was termed 'the Fourth Way'. Tracol's own teachings guard against dependence on credulity, dogma and subjectivity.Produced by the Pembridge Design Studio, a small private press in London that operated in the 1980s and early 90s, and who typically made books in very small editions of around two-hundred.Loosely inserted is a double sided sheet of notes by a prior owner. These notes appear to be a paraphrase of Alice A. Bailey's 'Rules for Healers' from her 'Treatise on White Magic'. The notes list rules I and II which begins with 'Enter thy brother's heart and see his woe. Then Speak. Let the words spoken convey the potent force he needs to loose his chains.'.With the inscription of Walter Brew, Christmas 1980, to the head of the title page. In the publisher's original paper wraps, with unclipped dust wrapper. Externally, fine, with dust wrapper in equally excellent condition. Internally, firmly bound. Inscription to head of title page, with pages otherwise exceptionally clean and bright. With a loosely inserted handwritten sheet by a prior owner. Near Fine. book.
