A history of arctic voyages from original sources, often translated specifically for Nansen. Covers the discovery of Iceland and Greenland in the Middle Ages, the decline of the Norse settlements in Greenland, early whaling and sealing, etc. Wonderfully inscribed by Nansen, in the year of publication, to Lord Edward Grey, Liberal parliamentarian, Foreign Secretary, and leader of the House of Lords. Inscribed association copies are very uncommon.
