This the total amount called for and matches the copy sold at Christies New York 24/3/2000. Original blue grey boards with later light brown paper spinewith…titles hand written in black ink in an old hand on the spine on a label. Some staining and wear to boards but very sound with remarkably clean text and plates. Very good. Armorial bookplate and ownership signature of Hugh Cecil Earl of Lonsdale with his motto 'Magistratus Indicat Virum.' This appears to be the Yellow Earl (1857-1944) and was likely sold off by him after a heavy death duties bill at Sotheby's 1937 ' It is possible the ownership signature ' Lonsdale' is that of his father although it matches his. Very good.
