Under the Haslewood imprint, Etchells and Macdonald reprinted a number of titles of classical works together. This title was reprinted from the Bodleian copy. Sir John Davies [1569-1626] was a lawyer and poet. Marlowe [1564-1593] died tragically young, possibly in a bar room brawl having already established himself as a major playwright. Born in Canterbury, he attended the King's School. The Elegies here reprinted probably represent his earliest known writings.
