Die Bedeutung des Symbolbegriffs für eine Theorie der kulturellen Semantik , 18 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Anmerkungen: Cassirers Philosophie der symbolischen Formen ist einerseits eine semantisch geprägte Zeichentheorie, andererseits eine umfassende phänomenologische Erkenntnistheorie. Ausgehend vom Verständnis des Menschen als animal symbolicum werden in dieser Arbeit beide Aspekte beleuchtet. Dabei wird es insbesondere um die theoretische Grundlage der PSF, Cassirers Repräsentationsbegriff sowie die Ausweitung der kantischen Kritik der Vernunft zu einer umgreifenden Kritik der Kultur gehen. , Abstract: Was kann ich wissen Spätestens seit Kant diese Frage stellte, gehört die Suche nach den Bedingungen der Möglichket menschlicher Erkenntnisse zu den entscheidenden epistemologischen Problemstelleungen. Kants Antwort war ein System von fixen, notwendigen und transzendentalen Voraussetzungen unserer Erfahrungen. Doch wie fix, wie universal können diese Bedingungen überhaupt sein Bestehen die Fundamente unserer Erfahrungen und Erkenntnisse tatsächlich unabhängig von unserer kulturellen Prägung Die Philosophie der symbolischen Formen Ernst Cassirers geht an dieser Stelle über Kant hinaus. Cassirer genügt es nicht allgemeine Bedingungen aufzustellen, an die jedes objektiv-gültige, gegenständliche Urteil gebunden ist. Die universalistischen Konzepte Kants sind Cassirer zu absolut, ohne ihrem Anspruch im Rahmen der Gesamtheit der menschlich-kulturellen Wirklichkeit(en) gerecht werden zu können. Vielmehr will er eine Philosophie, die in der Lage ist, alle geistige und kreative Arbeit, also die Gesamtheit der schöpferischen Momente des Menschen in sich zu vereinen. Diese radikale Abkehr vom rein wissenschaftstheoretischen Bezug des Erkenntnisbegriffs mündet in einer Rückführung der Bedingungen der Möglichkeit menschlicher Erkenntnisse auf ein lebensweltlich-kulturelles Fundament - die Kritik der Vernunft avanciert hier zur Kritik der Kultur. Dabei beruht die Einsicht Cassirers in die kulturelle Abhängigkeit unserer Erfahrungen auf einer spezifischen, fundamentalen Leistung des Menschen: der symbolischen Repräsentation. Denn im Gegensatz zur tierischen ist die menschliche Lebenswirklichkeit eine symbolische. Jede Erfahrung, selbst die kürzeste Wahrnehmung ist immer und notwendig bereits symbolisch geformt. Da die Art dieser Formung letztlich über die Art der Erfahrung entscheidet, sind die symbolischen Formen (wie z. B. Sprache oder Kunst) die Bedingungen der Möglichkeit unserer Erkenntnisse. Im Gegensatz zur Transzendentalphilosophie Kants sind diese Bedingungen im Sinne Cassirers keine invarianten Ausstattungsmerkmale des Geistes, sondern Produkte kultureller Entwicklungen. Damit ist Cassirers Idee des Menschen als animal symbolicum sowie dessen Rückführung auf ein lebensweltliches Erfahrungssubjekt nicht nur von umfassender erkenntnistheoretischer Bedeutung, sondern stellt zugleich eine unverzichtbare Grundlage aktueller medien-, kommunikations- und kulturwissenschaftlicher Diskurse dar. …
