The New Statistical Account of Scotland (NSA), published in 1845, served as a successor to the Old Statistical Account compiled by Sir John Sinclair in the late 18th century. Publisher's original gray cloth, lettered in silver on the spine, color pictorial dust jacket lettered in black on the spine and front cover, 4to (11.25 x 9 inches). This is the most comprehensive and authoritative book ever published on the subject and is useful in all of Canada and the northern United States. The book was designed to help mycologists, medical practitioners, general biologists, and mushroom foragers identify quickly and accurately the larger poisonous fungi found in northern North America. The book is divided in to two parts: Part 1: The Fungus Fruit Body (which provides a thorough introduction to fungal structure and taxonomy); and Part 2: Fungal Poisoning (which deals with toxicity and the major categories of fungal poisoning). No ownership makes no signs of use. This volume is from the private research collection of University of Michigan mycologist Alexander H. Smith. A fine copy in an almost fine dust jacket.
