Many of Serck-HanssenÆs photographs show a form of manipulation characteristic of staged photography, where reality is no longer a fixed entity to be recorded objectively. It is a fabrication-the artist creates his own imagery-a fiction. The photographs of man in water appear to be a performance documentation-but they go beyond this: they also represent an investigation of photography as such and of the interplay of chance and a will that imposes aesthetic order: the movement of light and water resists total control. The feeling of desperation, of the presence of death in the water, turns these pictures into evocative discharges, based on vividly sensual portrayal of man., English/ Norwegian, Year1998, Illust. B/W7, Illust. Color17, ISBN 8243001378, Code 3967. Hardbound w/ jacket, Not in perfect condition., Bio. Pages 91, Size 8öx 5 1/2ö.

An exhibition of SerranoÆs photographs that captures the experience of real pain. He takes the camera to morgues, captures bodies molested and burnt, but also naked and glowing - breaking barriers as he goes along. No one can remain indifferent to the sheer visual power of these pictures that may shock and provoke - but also intrigue - transcending conventional aesthetics and challenging conventional notions of beauty., English, Year2000, Illust.
