Sir James Maxwell Ramsay [signed] (illustratore). 1st ed., 4to., pp.viii, 102 plus 19 folding plates, orig cl backed bds., very worn, bumped, from the library of Sir James Maxwell Ramsay (1941) with his signature and book-plate Sir James Maxwell Ramsay (1916-1986) was officer-of-the-watch in HMS King George V during the engagement on 27 May 1941 in the Atlantic that resulted in the sinking of the German battleship Bismarck. He was later appointed Lieutenant-Governor of Western Australia (1974) and Governor of Queensland (1977). The book in two parts 'Navigation' and 'Handling Ships' being directions and a guide to the duties of the ship's captain.
