Blue pictorial dust jacket rubbed; triangular 3cm deep chip at spine heel; shallow chips, tears, as well as creasing at other edges; long rear to rear flap; dj now presented in a mylar Brodart protector. Blue cloth boards; slight bowing to rear board; spine's gilt stamped lettering remains vibrant. Mild toning to edges; light toning to endpapers; pencil mark at front free endpaper's top right corner; occasional foxing and scattered soiling to interior pages which, overall, remain clean. Binding is firm. A very good copy in a good+ dust jacket. Features numerous Asian style recipes among tabbed sections titled "Soups," "Salads," "Entrees," "Vegetables," "Sauces," "Desserts," and "Others." OCLC cites a 1971 edition containing recipes served to officers and guests of the Attack Carrier Striking Force Seventh Fleet during the period October 1967 to December 1970. This is presumably a second edition as a prefatory citation states that the book's recipes were used from October 1967 to December 1974.

Mimeographed typewritten pages printed recto only, stab bound with two piece metal binding clasp, blue paper wrappers, lightly soiled and a few dog eared pages, else very good. 300 leaves with mixed pagination. [Washington, D.C.], Commander TF-43, US Naval Support Force, Antarctica, A detailed set of logistical plans for the US International Geophysical Year operations in Antarctica. Initiated by polar veteran Lieutenant Richard Byrd, Operation Deep Freeze I was the US contribution to the International Geophysical Year, a science-driven global research project that included participants from sixty-seven countries. This official report appears to have been produced for internal circulation within the US Navy, and includes letters signed by Rear-Admiral George Dufek, Commander of Task Force 43 and "ComNavSuppFor Antarctica." Dufek was technically retired from the Navy in 1955 following decorated service in WWII and the Korean War, but continued on active duty so he could participate in Operation Deep Freeze. The plans include specifications for the establishment of four American base stations, plus auxiliary outposts, extensive lists of materials and equipment, procedural protocol for personnel, maps and other operations plans. Amongst many specific instructions there is an illustrated note about mooring alongside the ice shelf with the use of a "dead man" - a kind of anchor created from a plank of wood deliberately frozen into the bay ice. OCLC finds copies at Stanford, Navy Department Library, Mariners Museum, National Library of NZ, & University of Otago (these final two with the attributed date of publication 1960).
