The author traces the development of tapestry from its origins in the ancient world to its zenith in 15th and 16th century France and Flanders. The book is full of beautiful illustrations and in-depth scholarship, making it an essential resource for anyone interested in the history of art and textiles, as well as in the broader history of human civilization.
