A history of the religious troubles in the Netherlands from the abdication of Charles V (1555) to the outbreak of the Dutch revolt (1568). Vander Haer was a catholic from the Southern Netherlands, dedicated to the Spanish governor Alessandro Farnese, as much prized for his moderate views. He played an important role in the return of the Southern provinces to the Spanish crown in 1579 and continued to attempt to reconcile with the revolting calvinist Northern provinces. *Haitsma Mulier & Van der Lem 200a. Beys, venu se fixer à Lille en 1610, y publia en 1611 ce premier ouvrage dont il citait l'auteur, le chanoine Van de Haer, dans une de ses lettres comme son protecteur et ami. Floris Van der Haer (1547-1634), né à Louvain, est mort à Lille où il était trésorier et chanoine de Saint Pierre. Il est l'auteur d'ouvrages historiques et étudié les troubles iconoclastes. Ex-libris manuscrits anciens au verso du feuillet de garde, trace de cachet gras russe sur ler 1er f. blanc, ex-libris russe Roman Ivanovitch Ermerine (de son vrai nom Robert-Karl Ermerins), spécialiste de généalogie, installé à Saint-Pétersbourg de 1891 à sa mort.
