Full seventeen volume set, in dust jackets, and in the original box stamped The Complete Works of Charles Dickens, with full listing of the volumes under the lid. Rare in this state of completeness. Volumes: Dark green limp leather, gilt titles and design to spine, top edge gilt, gre…en marbled endpapers, green page markers. In light blue dustaackets with portrait of Dickens to front. B/w illustrations throughout by various artists. 7x4.5in/18x11cm. Box: Plywood/thick card, covered in black faux leather. With lift up lid, tape-hinged front section, gilt title to lid. Lined with blue paper, with gilt listing of volumes under the lid. See images. Condition: Good-fair. All volumes very good condition apart from Nicholas Nickleby which has been enjoyed by a dog at some time during its long life. This has teeth marks to cover, repair to front endpapers, corner of half title missing, top corner of pp643-648 reattached with tape. All text is complete and legible. Dustjacket unaffected, so it displays well in the box. All original dust jackets present apart from that of Dombey and Son which has been replaced with a facsimile with title stuck on. Some edge wear and browning to spines of djs. Light stains. Small repair to head of spine of Little Dorrit. Repair verso to folds of Great Expectations front flaps. The box has had a hard life, and been repaired with cloth tape to the hinged section of the front of the box, and to the rear edge of the lid. A bit warped to the sides and lid, with wear and marks commensurate with its age. However, it is still suitable to house the books and protect and display them. Size of box: 14x5x8in/35x13x20cm.
