Weekschildkevers zijn fraaie kevers met een heel scala aan kleuren. In het voorjaar kan je met het afspeuren van bloemen en struiken tientallen fraai gekleurde soorten vinden; zwart met rode, sommige met gele vlekken op het halsschild, en als je geluk hebt vind je er eentje met felle gele vlekken op de dekschilden. Daarom is het verrassend dat dit boekje het eerste determinatiewerk is voor de Nederlandse weekschildkevers. Deze tabel maakt het mogelijk om alle in Nederland voorkomende weekschildkevers te determineren. Van de algemenere soorten zijn foto's opgenomen, van de kleinere details die nodig zijn voor het determineren zijn tekeningen gemaakt. Daarnaast wordt de verspreiding en ecologie vermeld.
