LIONEL EDWARDS remembers the days when he was a poor student in London and bought his first horse for the sake of his health. LAURIAN JONES introduces Jim, her chestnut Welsh pony, with a strong will of his own, and VIC OLIVER confides how he became a racehorse owner when he bought Heart, a bay gelding, who, to quote his proud owner, 'had the meekness of a lamb, and the courage of a lion.' MY FIRST HORSE has been illustrated by LIONEL EDWARDS, the acknow-ledged first draughtsman of horses and the hunting field."
