Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book recounts the author's travels through Denmark, Norway, Finland and Lapland in the late 1800s. As he ventures through the sparsely populated countryside and engages with the local communities, the author draws parallels between the vibrant cultural traditions of Scandinavia and the stark existence of the Lapps, a nomadic people of the far north. The author discusses the historical, linguistic, and topographical aspects of these countries, and provides statistical information regarding population and industry. He also provides ethnographic details about the lives of the Lapps including their unique language, religious practices, and traditional clothing and shelter. Through the lens of his own observations and interactions, the author provides a comprehensive and insightful look at a region of the world that was, at the time, relatively unknown to outsiders, offering valuable insights into the social, economic, and cultural conditions of the people living there. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
