Esemplare fresco in condizioni originali nella sua brossura di attesa dell'editore e ovviamente a pieni margini con barbe, mancanze diffuse alla brossura del dorso. Prima edizione di questa celebre opera, il lavoro più vasto, ma anche il più criticato nella carriera di Malacarne, lungamente elaborato e ricco di notizie fondamentali per lo studio biografico e bibliografico dei primordi della medicina in Piemonte. L'autore (Saluzzo 1744 - Padova 1816) allievo del Bertrandi e chirurgo a Torino e Acqui Terme, fu molto considerato anche negli anni della maturità dell'insegnamento a Pavia e Padova; in questo trattato si lascia evidentemente trascinare da uno slancio campanilistico nell'esaltazione di illustri del passato, al punto, secondo la critica moderna, di avere consapevolmente redatto pareri e citazioni biografiche non del tutto veritiere. Ciò nondimeno il trattato resta il punto di partenza moderno sulla materia, base sul quale opere successive hanno dovuto comunque confrontarsi e attingere. Cfr. Blake, p.284. HIRSCH, vol.IV, p.104.

Legatura coeva in piena pelle con ricchi fregi e titolo impresso in oro al ds. (alcune abrasioni e mancanza alla cuffia superiore). Tagli rossi. Lievi aloni e fioriture ma, nel complesso, esemplare in più che buono stato di conservazione. L Autore (1744-1816), anatomista e chirurgo originario della città di Saluzzo, è considerato il fondatore dell anatomia topografica. Molto importanti, oltre ai suoi approfondimenti sugli effetti terapeutici delle acque termali, furono i suoi studi sul sistema nervoso centrale e periferico. Si occupò di studi di neuroanatomia, in particolare sulla conformazione del cervelletto. Rara edizione originale. Vincenzo Malacarne (1744-1816) was a researcher in neurophysiology and electrical physiology of the human brain. He served as professor of Anatomy and Surgery at Turin University and then in Pavia and Padua. In 1785 he was appointed surgeon of Turin by Duke Vittorio Amedeo III. An excellent anatomist, Malacarne is noted for his works on the human brain and neuro-anatomy, in particular on the conformation of the cerebellum.
