As titanium dioxide content increases in the metal matrix composit…es there will be advantages like decrease in the density and improvement in the strength of the alloy so that corrosion resistance is also increased. ZA-27 /TiO2 composites can be manufactured by the dispersion of titanium dioxide particulates in ZA-27 alloy melt using liquid melt metallurgy technique by vortex method followed by casting in suitable permanent moulds 2, 4, 6 weight percent TiO2 particulates were dispersed in the matrix. It is possible to introduce only preheated but uncoated TiO2 particles (temperature of 400oC, duration of two hours) in the melts of ZA-27 alloy to obtain uniform dispersion and to retain significant amounts in the castings. 56 pp. Englisch.
