Die unter dem Porträt abgedruckten Handschriftenzeilen enthalten den Satz "Ich vertraue auf meine Völker und auf die Gerechtigkeit unserer Sache", der - in leicht veränderter Form - im Aufruf des Kaisers bei Ausbruch des Ersten Weltkriegs enthalten war. Mit Kauf des Porträts konnte man also nicht nur seinen Patriotismus, seine Anhänglichkeit an das Herrscherhaus, sondern auch sein Vertrauen in den Sieg demonstrieren. Das identische Porträt mit Zitat hatte der k.u.k. Hof- und Kammerphotograph Carl Pietzner (1853-1927) bereits 1914 für eine Postkarte verwendet. - Trägerpapier etw. angestaubt u. in den Rändern stockfleckig.
