Condizione: Poor. covers have heavy wear, rubbing, chipping and soil, corners and ends of spine bumped and rounded, binding tight but misaligned, no writing but scattered soil, no pages numbers, story of Peggy and Paul who get tired of hunting for Bossy the calf so they get her a tinkle bell to wear, Bossy pulls the b…ell off, gets lost and threatened with punishment if she does it again. But Bossy losses her bell and hunts until she finds it with help from her friends. The story is illustrated with black and white and color illustrations. Size: 5.25 x 6.75. Margot Voigt (1926-1923) illustrates this version of Helen Bannerman's classic children's story about a little black boy, his encounter with a tiger, pancakes, & his parents, Black Mumbo & Black Jumbo. Orig. written in India & pu…blished in 1899, this edition is undated, but research places it c. 1941, with all characters having exaggerated African characteristics. Small 24 mo (4.75" x 6.25") is bound with 2 staples in red linen-finish wrappers with colorful images from the book to front & back covers, lettered in black. No publisher. Unpaginated [10 pages]. Condition is VG+: nearly Fine, but with mild rubbing to extremities. Pages a dark cream with vividly colored images, completely unmarked. Copyright date 1942, 135 x 105 mm, 5½ x 4¼ inches, thin card covers with large extra coloured illustrations by Voigt, different on upper and lower covers, on the upper cover Sambo's mother stitches his sleeve, 10 pages including insides of covers. 4 large coloured illustrations and 2 large black and white ones by Margot Voigt. S…ambo is a sweet little African toddler in these images. Spine and corners just slightly worn, small split at tail of spine, small crease at top corner of upper cover, couple of minute grazes to illustration on lower cover. Tiny brown spot to top of first page. A very good copy. Apparently S. Lowe published multiple versions of this title illustrated by Voigt from 1940. The first version was published as a shaped book circa 1941, numbered 1066. Ours is numbered 1086. See Barton, Pictus Orbis, page 213 (illustration) and 314. Sambo is a sweet little Afric…an toddler in these images. 2 minute rust marks to lower cover, slightest rub to spine. Otherwise a Fine copy of an uncommon miniature version of this story. Apparently S. Lowe published multiple versions of this title from 1940. Voigt's first version for this publisher was published as a shaped book circa 1941.
