Demgegenüber entwickelt Haselberg, daß Gewalt nicht im Zweck der Aneignung endet, sondern daß sie als ein "Schadenstiften" gerade auch den Besitz als verselbständigten Wert bedroht; sei es als Vergeudung, sei es als ritueller oder privater Exzeß, sei es als asketischer Verzicht, sei es schließlich als Verschleiß von Konsumgütern. Die Untersuchung trachtet, Veblens Begriff der ostentativen Faulheit, die jener lediglich als Manier oder Marotte auffaßt, in Zu-sammenhang mit der Theorie der Gewalt zu bringen.
