He paints using newspapers as a canvas, and creates installations out of tree branches and other organic matter. These "poor" materials subvert…a prevailing notion in Western culture that an artwork should be eternally preserved.Through the adaptation of various styles and symbols, Vormstein's paintings likewise speak to the transience of art historical and cultural trends.
