Discreto esemplare con restauri, margini laterali aggiuntiUna delle mappe pi? decorative e rare della Gran Bretagna e dellíIrlanda realizzate da Jan Baptist Vrients (1552-1612)La mappa apparve per la prima volta nel 1606, e questa Ë la prima versione della… mappa, con la dedica a Giacomo I.Vrients acquisÏ i diritti di pubblicazione del Theatrum dopo la morte di Ortelius e continuÚ a pubblicare ulteriori edizioni, incluse mappe di sua creazione.Sotto, un albero genealogico che parte dal basso con Guglielmo il Conquistatore nel 1066 e sale fino al re Giacomo nel 1603 in cima. Il cartiglio nell'angolo in basso a sinistra raffigura una legenda di 52 contee con le loro caratteristiche in 10 colonne. Le incisioni sono di alta qualit? e raffigurano galeoni, un mostro marino, una sirena e Nettuno. Le caratteristiche del territorio e dei punti costieri sono descritte con grande dettaglio. Aggiungi al carrelloSeventeenth century Antwerp Large engraved panorama, on four sheets joined, contemporary full wash colour, woodcut title in six sections pasted above, three panels of descriptive letterpress text composed of six half-sheets pasted outside the lower border, previously laid on canvas, some restoration with manuscript reinstatement… and retouching, relaid on a modern board backing, with stretchers, the title wrongly reassembled after restoration, should be: "Antverpia totius Inferioris Germaniæ nobilissima et ducatus Brabantiæ primaria urbs". A rare and finely engraved prospect of Antwerp viewed from the Scheldt, first published by Vrients in 1610, under a privilege issued by Albert and Isabella, Archduke and Archduchess of Austria, governors of the Austrian Netherlands. The plates later came into the hands of the Visscher family, and were reprinted by Claes Jansz. Visscher the younger, presumably Nicolaas Visscher I. This is, apparently, one of three recorded examples with the Visscher imprint. The text outside the lower border comprises a history and description of Antwerp, in Dutch, French and Latin.
