(1968) an Hand eines Falles von hypertrophischer Neuritis eingehend diskutiert, sind in man chen Punkten noch ungeklart geblieben. Die elektronenmikroskopischen Befunde haben zeigen konnen, daB die segment ale Entmarkung der Nervenfasern einer der Faktoren ist, die durch die Proliferation iiber zahliger Schwannscher Zellen zu diesen Bildungen fiihrt (THOMAS und LASCELLES, 1967; WELLER, 1967; DYCK und GOMEZ, 1968; WELLER und DAS GUPTA, 1968; SCHRODER, 1968). LUBTNSKA (1961) hatte bereits an Schwannschen Zellen, die keinen Kontakt mit einem Axon besitzen oder ihn verloren haben, Plastizitat ihrer Form sowie migratorische und proliferative Aktivitat beobachtet. Der Verlust der Axon-Schwannzell-Beziehung kann durch verschiedene Erkrankungs form en der Nervenfasern ausgelost werden, umschriebene Entmarkung des Axons, Wallersche Degeneration oder neuron ale nucleo-distal beginnende Atrophie. In einer sehr iiberzeugenden Weise haben KING und P. K. THOMAS (1971) durch umschriebene Quet schung des N. vagus gezeigt, daB sich regenerierende marklose Axone und iiberzahlige Schwannsche Zellen um die regenerierenden markhaltigen Axone des N. recurrens ahnlich wie bei der hypertrophischen Polyneuropathie anordnen. Damit war erwiesen, daB nicht nur eine segment ale Entmarkung, sondern auch die Unterbrechung der Axone ahnliche, wenn auch nicht so grobe 'Zwiebelschalenbildungen' hervorrufen kann. Perineuronale W ucherungen der Satellitenzellen im Spinalganglion kommen ebenfalls aus verschiedenen Ursa chen vor und konnen mit einer Fortsatzhyperplasie der Spinal ganglienzelle verbunden sein.
