Number 31 of the first series of Faber and Faber's Ariel series of poetry pamphlets, published between 1927 and 1931. Each volume contains a single poem by a different author accompanied by an illustration, again by different artistis. This volume contains the poem "News" by Walter de la Mare (1873-1956). De la Mare was an English author and poet, known in particular for his children's stories. His best known work is his poem "The Listener" and he also has a reputation as an author of supernatural short fiction. The illustration included is by Barnett Freedman (1901-1958), a British designer, printer, and illustrator.
