He is best known for co-editing this work, which is regarded as the colony's official history.Walter Makepeace was asked, alongside Gilbert Brooke and Roland Braddell to edit this work. Brooke was a port health officer in Singapore and Roland Braddell was a former attorney-general of the Straits Settlements.This work looks at the history of Modern Singapore since its founding by Sir Stamford Raffles in 1819 as a trading post of the British Empire. There are personal reminiscences of prominent officials and citizens as well as accounts of Singapore's schools, churches, trade, amusements and institutions. The book relies heavily on newspaper sources. Rebound, in a full cloth binding. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear. Author's inscription to the recto of front endpaper.
