Neuware - Als Historiker der mißhandelten Schöpfung und einer geknechteten Gesellschaft hat sich Wang Jiaxin nicht nur in seinen Gedichten und Essays der geschundenen Kreatur angenommen, sondern ebenfalls in seinen Übersetzungen. Da sind die liebsten Beispiele (Sowjet)russische Autoren und vor allem Paul C…elan (1920-1970), also große Persönlichkeiten, die mit ihrem Sterben wahrmachten, was Wolfgang Leonhard (1921-2014) einmal mit folgenden Worten in seinem Standardwerk auf den Punkt brachte: Die Revolution frißt ihre Kinder (1955). Daß alles Schreiben mit dem Gedächtnis bzw. mit der Erinnerung beginne, wissen wir auch aus China. Doch chinesische Literatur heute ist oftmals nur ein Werkzeug des kollektiven Gedächtnis, weniger ein Hilfsmittel zu persönlicher Erinnerung. Darum erscheint sie uns mitunter so langweilig.Es kann nicht ausbleiben, daß die Übertragung von Wang Jiaxin für den Übersetzer nicht nur eine sprachliche, sondern auch eine persönliche Herausforderung darstellt. Der Dichter hat sich verwundert gezeigt, wie lange ich diesmal für seinen zweiten Gedichtband auf deutsch brauchte, wo ich doch den ersten (Dämmerung auf Gotland. Ottensheim: Thanhäuser 2011) in kürzester Zeit abgeschlossen hatte. Vielleicht grübelte ich drei Jahre über den Manuskripten und dachte an meine Kulturrevolution, da ich in einem smogfreien Peking bei oft blauem Himmel und berückendem Sonnenlicht ein Jahr lang modernes Chinesisch erlernte (1974/75). Vielleicht erging es mir wie dem Pekinger Literaturkritiker Tang Xiaodu (geb. 1954), der in der tiefsten Krise seines Lebens das Übersetzen als seinen größten Trost empfand. Nebenbei bemerkt: Wang Jiaxin mag ähnlich seinen Trost bei Homer (8. Jh.v. Chr.) und Dante, (1265-1321), bei Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) und Sylvia Plath (1932-1963) finden, vielleicht auch bei den Ortsnamen von Shandong, einer Provinz, die ihm zur Heimat geworden ist. Hat also alles Schreiben und Übertragen etwas Autobiographisches an sich Ich plädiere eher für den Dialog. Es sind immer andere uns vorausgegangen. Diese haben ähnliche Erfahrungen gemacht: Sie schrieben und sie übersetzten. Und sie erinnerten sich. So wie ich mich an den 10. August 2016, als ich morgens um 2 Uhr 30 längst aufgestanden, an den Texten arbeitete. Im Nachtprogramm des Westdeutschen Rundfunks spielte Glenn Gould (1932-1952) die Goldstein-Variationen in der Aufnahme von 1982, die ich durch den Dichter vor zehn Jahren und mehr in dessen Auto kennengelernt hatte.Fassen wir uns kurz: Schreiben ist Krise und Trost, Übersetzen ebenfalls. Wir denken über unsere Kinder nach, die als Fleisch und Blut oder als Papier und Druckerschwärze unser Haus verlassen (haben). Wir bleiben einsam zurück und danken: Zhang Bingye (Bonnie Zhang), die mir an der Universität Shantou bei Fragen der Deutung zur Seite stand, George O'Connell für die Gespräche über unseren gemeinsamen chinesischen Freund. Erst als mein Manuskript in einer sogenannten Rohform abgeschlossen war, erschien Darkening Mirror (New & Selected Poems. Wang Jiaxin. Tebot Bach: Huntington Beach 2016). Wenn in meinen Zweifeln, schaute ich in die Übertragung des amerikanischen Dichters und von dessen Partnerin Diana Shi nachträglich hinein. Wir hatten dieselben Probleme, denn nicht immer ist Wang Jiaxin so verständlich, wie er zu sein vorgibt. Und so wuchs mein Anspruch an mich selbst: Die deutsche Sprache ist nicht weniger leicht als die chinesische. Sie ist die Hölle, wenn man es gut mit ihr meint. Auch dies war ein Grund, warum die Arbeit am Text diesmal so viel Zeit in Anspruch nahm. Vielleicht dankt es ja die werte Leserschaft.Die Übersetzungen entstanden hauptsächlich im Paradies der Universität Shantou und in der Idylle von Bonn-Holzlar. So fand Trost zu Trost.
