Special title page between no. 718 and no. 719 notes this is the 8th American Edition from the eighteenth London edition, with enlargements. Also t.p. date of 1842, it reads "A Selection of Hymns, from the Best Authors, including a Great Number of Originals: intended to be an Index to Dr. Watts Psalms and Hymns, by John Rippon, D.D." A SCARCE edition, in commerce, and particularly so in lovely contemporary fine binding. OCLC does not locate any copies but one was located at AAS #358124. Divided into two sections, the small songbook lists the words for 28 Divine Songs, followed by a list of the "10 Commandments" and the "Sum of the Ten," as well as words for 3 Hosannas, and "Glory to the Father." The section titled, "Moral Songs," lists the words for 8 songs. This is an early copy of a hymn book that was later revised and reprinted.
