This book- The Art of Mughal India- is the catalogue of an exhibition shown in the galleries of Asia House during the winter of 1964 as an activity of the Asia Society to promote greater undrerstanding between the United States and the Peoples of Asia. It was once a book of the Buffalo & Erie Public Library and was withdrawn although there are still several markings as a result. This book is more than an exhibition catalogue as it also tells the story of the emergence of the Mughal art in India, tracing and describing the life of several of the early Emperors. There is an errata sheet tipped in just after the copyright page. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket appears to have been slightly trimmed along the top & bottom edges, probably during the removal of a library-added mylar sheath. There are still tape marks and dark stains on the boards and the endpapers where it was affixed. Despite these markings and the library procedence, the interior pages and plates of the book are still quite presentable and without toning or foxing. The card pocket has been unceremoniously removed from the rear endpaper. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound. Many (illustratore).…
