No Binding. Condizione: Fine. Original envelope and publisher's beige pamphlet and facsimile broadside. Author's own copy. Four pages (one leaf folded in half), complete. Envelope measures 11 1/4" x 8 3/4" and has the author's signature handwriting in blue pen: "Keep for Wenzel Family, Sac'to Proclamation, Caroline Wenzel." Envelope has a bit of wear but is clean and intact overall. The pamphlet measures 8 1/4" x 10" and includes a 12 1/4" x 17" facsimile reproduction of a broadside published in 1849 by the Sacramento City Council. The poster was published to rally civilians to vote on a charter that would help form the city government. The pamphlet also includes commentary by Caroline Wenzel who discusses the history of this broadside. Pamphlet and broadside are pristine and intact fine copies. This is Number Five in a series of keepsakes by the Book Club of California that highlight California broadsides or posters. Inscribed by Author(s).

Horace Culver which he first wrote in 1851. Notably, Culver published Sacramento's first city directory.
