Ebd. - Weyl, (1851 - 1913), studierte als Schüler von Emil Du Bois-Reymond, Felix Hoppe-Seyler und Robert Koch an den Universitäten Berlin und Straßburg, wurde 1877 promoviert (Beiträge zur Kenntniss thierischer und pflanzlicher Eiweisskörper) und habi…litierte sich 1879 für Physiologie an der Univ. Erlangen. Später als amtlicher Hygieniker in England, Ungarn und der Türkei tätig, wurde er 1896 Dozent für Hygiene an der Univ. Berlin. Er beschäftigte sich mit bakteriologischen, hygienischen und physiologischen Fragen. Besondere Beachtung fanden seine Beiträge zum Tetanusbazillus und zum Antitetanusserum. Er veröffentlichte u.a. Die Theerfarben (1889) und Studien zur Straßenhygiene (1898). Er war Herausgeber des Handbuchs der Arbeiterkrankheiten (1908) und des Handbuchs der Hygiene (10 Bde., 1912-22). Das von ihm herausgegebene Handbuch Die Methoden der organischen Chemie (2 Bde., 1908-11) wurde ab der 2. Auflage von Josef Houben bearbeitet. (Quelle DBE).
