Features a new introduction by Lawrence H. White. Carl Menger (1840-1921) was the founder of the Austrian School of economics. Foundational Austrian economist looks at "method". Menger's method emphasized the subjective theory of value, arguing that prices arise from individuals' subjective valuations; rather than production costs. His approach rejected historical or cost-based explanations, focusing instead on how marginal utility guides human choice and market exchange. From review: "Best of this volume could be considered: Menger's groundbreaking discussion of the "organic" origin of money, law, markets, and social institutions. Menger combines Burke's critique of "the spirit of innovation" with Karl von Savigny's historical insights into the origins of customary law.
