Aggiungi al carrelloOriginal manuscript letter of artist Jan Wiegers (1893-1959) to the writer A.M. de Jong. Total size: 17,5 x 12,5 cm. In the letter Wiegers thanks De Jong for the Sinterklaas parcel which was the novel of the Danish writer Jens Peter Jacobson dd 1880 "Niels Lyhne". He further refers to the book of De Jong Bulletje en Boonestaak,…with which he became very famous. Wiegers mentions that Frans is always laughing when he reads the comic. Apparently De Jong was a guest in the house of Wiegers in Groningen (H.W. Mesdagplein 15).[NL] Jan Wiegers (1893-1959) was een Nederlands expressionistisch schilder, een van de oprichters in 1918 van De Ploeg in Groningen. Wiegers woonde in Groningen met zijn vrouw en met Jet. A.M. de Jong (1888-1943) was een Nederlands schrijver, onder meer van de strip Bulletje en Boonestaak. Deze strip wordt momenteel als een klassieker beschouwd, zowel wegens de gedurfde tekeningen als de controversiële onderwerpen van De Jong. De Jong werd als represaille voor de moord op een aantal NSB-ers in 1943 vermoord door de Nederlandse SS-ers, een zogenaamde Silbertanne-actie (Actie Zilverspar). Er is tegenwoordig een A.M. de Jongmuseum in Nieuw Vossemeer.

Unter ihnen finden wir Jan Wiegers als eine d…er markantesten | Persönlichkeiten der modernen Malerei in den Niederlanden. Ein Teil seines Werkes ¿ und nicht der kleinste ¿ baut auf Anregungen, die ihm die Schweizer Landschaft | gegeben, deren Berge Wiegers 1912 zum ersten Mal erlebt hat. Es wurde daraus eine Freundschaft, die sich in dem einst Lungenkranken in den Jahren 1920/21 in | Davos vertiefte. Damals schloß sich in dem großen Bündner Kurort ein Kreis von | Künstlern und Kunstfreunden um den Arzt Luzius Spengler, dessen Haus den | Malern offen stand, ein Haus, in dessen Räumen Bilder von Hodler hingen, in welchem Amiet und Giovanni Giacometti Gäste waren. ]V[eyer-Amden, Hermann Huber und Pauli traten in den Kreis der Davoser, und vor allem ist es Kirchner gewesen, | der dort oben für Wiegers von Bedeutung wurde. | 1921 hat Jan Wiegers zum ersten Mal in der Schweiz ¿ u. a. mit Mondrian und van | Doesburg ¿ in Genf ausgestellt. Zum Erlebnis der Bündner Alpen kam später das | Erlebnis des Tessins, wo auch unser neues Blatt entstanden ist. Jahrhunderts so glanzvoll begonnene Renaissance der Farblithographie am Leben erhielten. Jan Wiegers, der Holländer und Freund Kirchners in dessen Davoser Zeit, Freund ganz besonders der Schweiz, ist ein lebensvoller und einfallsreicher Vertreter dieser Kunst. Wir weisen auf unser Blatt «Altdorf» hin, das die kraftvolle Probe einer mit dem Pinsel auf den Stein gebrachten Zeichnung darstellt. Es scheint uns in diesem Zusammenhang notwendig, auf die keinesfalls einfache Technik der Farblithographie hinzuweisen. Der Künstler hat für jede Farbe einen besonderen Stein zu benutzen; durch die nacheinander erfolgenden Andrucke der verschiedenen Steine (denke Farben) entsteht auf dem Papier das fertige Bild. Er hat also mit einem vorstellungsmäßig fertigen bzw. zergliederten Projekt an die Arbeit zu gehen, diese in übrigens keineswegs bequemer Lage, nämlich stehend und leicht über den Stein gebückt, auszuführen, wobei die Hände den Stein nicht berühren dürfen, da der Fingerabdruck sichtbar wäre. Der Stein kann sowohl mit der Feder, der Kreide, dem Stift oder dem Pinsel bearbeitet werden. Der Stil Wiegers ist großzügig, flächig und expressiv, seine Farben kontrastreich und stimmungsvoll Eine andere Variante der Lithographie bringt uns Wiegers mit dem Blatt «Schwyzerlandschaft». Hier wurde der Stein vor Bearbeitung mit flüssigem Terpentin stark eingerieben und die Flüssigkeit hierauf mit einem Lappen gleichmäßig verrieben. Beim Berühren der Fläche mit Pinsel und Lithotusche, eine Handlung die äußerst rasch vor sich zu gehen hat, zerfließt der Tusch und der Künstler erzielt damit die gewallte aquarellhafte Wirkung.¿ C.R.
