Eckersley to the front free endpaper, ownership inscription of another prior owner, the racehorse trainer Frank Hartigan of Weyhill, to the front pastedown. 65 illustrations including frontispiece, illustrated title page and 44 plates plus the others in the text. Neatly rebacked preserving much of the original spine, else very good. Decorative title page undated, the date above taken from the spine lettering. Full red crushed morocco, tooled in gilt with hunting devices, all edges gilt; marbled paper endpapers, gilt-tooled leather turn-ins; [iv],iv,300pp; frontispiece, decorative title page, and 50 full-page plates, with additional in-text wood engravings. A straight copy, lower edge rubbed, spine slightly darkened, with cracks to front joint at head and tail, occasional foxing, final leaf with partial tear at gutter: around Very Good. George Tattersall was a member of the family that founded and operated Tattersall's horse market. He was known for his sporting illustrations (though this book includes illustrations by multiple artists, in addition to Tattersall's scenes) and as a sporting architect.
