An keinem anderen Ort der Welt existiert ein derartiges Museum zu Flussperlmuscheln, Perlenfischerei und Perlmutterwarenherstellung, was Adorf als attraktives und anziehendes Alleinstellungsmerkmal fuer die aktive Gestaltung des Strukturwandels nutzen moechte.Das Grundstueck des Neubaus war eine Brache ohne Qualitaet im Erscheinungsbild und fuer den Aufenthalt der Menschen. Die ein- bezogenen Altbauten waren teilweise ungenutzt und drohten zu verfallen. Durch deren Erhalt und Weiternutzung wurde die oertliche Situation stabilisiert und gestaerkt. Mit der Intervention entstand ein lebendiger Ort, der sowohl die unmittelbare Umgebung als auch durch die Naehe zu Marktplatz und Rathaus die gesamte Innenstadt aufwertet. Die Integration der historischen Stadtmauer in den Patio des Museums macht die Geschichte der Stadt erlebbar. Der rueckwaertige begruente Hof steigert in Verbindung mit einem geplanten Cafe die Aufenthaltsqualitaet im Freien.
