Although Emeritus Professor of Zoology, University of Sydney, his book was written "for the ordinary person." Nevetherless,it contains a host of information, in text and illustration, about the reefs, their origins and inhabitants, fish, shellfish and corals. An important contribution to literature about Australia's famed Great Barrier Reef and other reefs. First published 1950 with this first reprint 1953. 135 pages including index, many b/w photographs, some maps, diagrams and small chapter end decorations. Plain hard covers with black front and spine titles VG with slight wear spine extremities, lower corners lightly bumped, dealer label (Angus and Robertson, Sydney) lower right front pastedown, no inscriptions.The text block is excellent, with slight undulations, but no sign of damp damage.
